Pitt Athletics | Football Training Facility

Following their rebrand in 2019, Pitt Athletics partnered with Dimensional Innovations to universally implement the new identity. An initial focus was the Duratz Training Facility which serves as Pitt Football headquarters. We worked closely with administration and staff to design a narrative-driven experience rooted in the program's rich history, with an intentional emphasis on the future. Our vision was to create a space authentic to Pittsburgh, inspired by the historic steel industry and unique gothic architecture prevalent throughout the city and campus.

Very early into the conceptual process, we envisioned a dramatic statement in the entry lobby. The primary inspiration behind the Panther Head logo derives from the Cathedral of Learning, located at the heart of Pitt's campus. We wanted to celebrate that story and quite literally create a jaw-dropping destination unlike anywhere else in the country.

DI Tech designed, produced, and implemented energized video content told on a projection-mapped custom sculpted surface; a cousin to the Panther Head sculpture in the downstairs lobby. The story speaks directly to the current (and future) team of Pitt Football's legacy, program values, and path to victory.

We thoroughly programmed, organized, and managed all content curation throughout the facility to tell a cohesive narrative. Legacy Hall showcases Pitt Football's past and present and is also used as a metaphor for building success. The path progresses from the program's foundation to current accomplishments, anchored by training and recovery spaces, and ultimately leading players directly to the practice field.
